MISS TRISH SPLASH

Trish Grady was born and raised in Cheyenne, Wyoming and has been living in New York City since the early 1980’s Her background in the fashion industry is varied having held positions as an editor at Glamour magazine, working with Bernie Ozer in the AMC fashion office, press at Perry Ellis and stints at Nine West, Sam & Libby and Ralph Lauren where she designed in the accessories division.

Before long Grady formed a design consulting company and worked with varied designers such as Oscar de la Renta, Michael Kors at Celine, Missoni and Narciso Rodriguez among others.
Six years ago Trish created a collection of “Capri” style sandals that she had made in Italy and subsequently pitched a tent at a farm stand in the Hamptons which became the “go to” place for what has become her iconic sandals. The collection was inspired by the aspirational jet-set life style that was prevalent in Capri during the 1960’s……where Jackie Kennedy and other glamorous and stylish women were seen and admired for their glamorous and chic style. These were beautifully hand made leather sandals bejeweled with iconic sea creatures such as seahorses, turtles, starfish, snakes and bugs….all charming and fun and always tasteful. With the sandals a huge hit, Trish launched the collection for wholesale sales and it was immediately picked up by many fine specialty stores internationally as well as Bergdorf Goodman, Neiman Marcus, Harrods, Harvey Nichols and the like. The Capri collection has grown into a wonderful business and is known world-wide.

What next? What is she wearing when not in warm weather resort mode? Where does she go? Skiing of course! Enter Miss Trish of St. Moritz, the natural answer to the Capri sandal but for cold weather. The collection carries on with the bejeweled statement that defines Trish’s work, but now it is on Apres’ ski boots in materials like pony skin trimmed with fox, suede adorned with ethnic embroideries and everything in between. Almost over the top, but never really, these boots are a huge hit and can be seen on the streets of New York and LA as well as in Aspen and Gstaad. Picture Ursula Andress on a snowy mountain at a glam ski resort! Mr. and Mrs. Richard Burton at their chalet in Gstaad. Or, any early James Bond film……you get the picture?

This year Trish wanted to answer the question of lifestyle living and the natural answer was sandals that have the same hand writing as the Capri sandals, but take her to the beach, the pool or knocking around in cut offs. Not missing a beat, Trish launched Miss Trish SPLASH, a collection of flip flops that have the essence of the Capri collection but at a much more affordable price and made in materials that can sustain more active and aquatic usage. The flips have bold graphic designs printed on the sandal as well as jewelry pieces that are the same as the graphics, creating a very playful and exciting look. There is also the style with a leather sock but always with a jewelry piece. Butterflies, turtles, caterpillars, sea shells, beetles….the whole menagerie lives here! This collection has just been shipped for the first time and is a huge hit in specialty stores as well as department stores in the USA and abroad.
